Below is the schedule of referee courses being offered this season, for immediate distribution to your coaches and other volunteers. Please note PREREQUISITES, denoted by * and ** below, associated with each course.
* PREREQUISITES FOR ALL COURSES: AYSO Volunteer Registration (www.eAYSO.org) is required. Volunteer ID number required to access courses in www.aysotraining.org. Course MT02 - AYSO’s Safe Haven (www.aysotraining.org) is also required. Note: Volunteer registration is mandatory each year. Safe Haven typically needs to be taken only once in your career.
Sun Aug 5, Basic Referee Online Companion Course, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. For this date, Aug 5 only, we will need to exit the Teen Room at 4:30 and finish up outside (until around 6:00 p.m.). * FURTHER PREREQUISITE: Attendees must complete Course R002 Basic Referee Online Training Course at www.aysotraining.org, prior to attending this course. Sun Aug 26, U-8 Official, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. ** No further prerequisite. Parking may be a little tight on this day as others will be using the park. Please park either across the street or on the street mauka of the pool.
All courses will be held at the Kaneohe District Park Gym (on Waikalua Road) “Teen Room”, located to the left of the main entrance of the gymnasium building. Attendees are asked to bring a pen or pencil and a notebook, and to dress comfortably as we may be doing some field work, pending available field and time. Refreshments will be served.
Attendees are asked to please register for their desired course(s) at www.eAYSO.org at least 24-hours prior to each course. This will give me a pretty good idea of the number attending and how much reference material to order.
U-8 OFFICIAL COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to teach entry-level referee volunteers to officiate in younger players’ short-sided games (U-6 and U-8) in accordance with AYSO principles. The course constitutes the training portion of the certification requirements for an AYSO U-8 Official. In addition to registration as a volunteer in the local program, those requirements are:
MINIMUM AGE: 10 years old
GAMES: No minimum number of games required
TRAINING: Complete the U-8 Official Course (this course)
TESTING: Take the U-8 Official Exam
ASSESSMENT: Not required
FITNESS TEST: Not required
SERVICE: None required

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Completion of AYSO’s Safe Haven is required.
BASIC REFEREE COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to train entry-level referee volunteers in the basic skills required to officiate in AYSO matches in accordance with AYSO (FIFA) Laws and
AYSO National Rules and Regulations. The emphasis is on younger players’ short-sided games (U-6, U-8, and U-10). The course constitutes the training portion of the certification requirements for an AYSO Regional Referee. In addition to registration as a volunteer in the local program, those requirements are:
MINIMUM AGE: 12 years old
GAMES: No minimum number of games required
TRAINING: Complete the Basic Referee Course (this course)
TESTING: 75% or better on the Basic Referee Exam
ASSESSMENT: Not required
FITNESS TEST: Not required; an introduction to the AYSO Physical Fitness Test is recommended
SERVICE: None required
